Purchasing books with a credit card

Our long-time German book vendor, Tropical Scientific Books (TRIOPS), is kindly providing a channel for purchasing IRRI books with a credit card (Master Card, Visa, and American Express). 

The procedure involves browsing IRRI's online catalog for the book or books you wish to purchase. You must have an email address for this procedure to work.

Follow these instructions:

1. For each book being ordered, write down the author, title, HDC price (LDC customers must pay HDC prices for credit card orders), and Shipping charge (airmail postage and handling) for each title. When ordering more than one copy of each title, multiply the quanity by both the HDC price and the Shipping charge.  

2. Click the TRIOPS link located at the bottom of these instructions to gain access to the secure IRRI Credit Card Order Form..

3. On the Order Form, transfer the author, title, HDC price and Shipping charge information (accumulated according to the instructions in #1 above) to the cells at the top of the form. In the last column, put the sum of the HDC price (x quanity) and the Shipping charge (x quanity) for each book being ordered. To arrive at the total amount that will be charged to your credit card, click the "Calculate" button and the total will be automatically calculated for you. Also fill in the other required cells for delivery address and credit card information. 

4. Click the "submit" button, which submits your order to TRIOPS for processing. 

5. On the "Thank You" page, you can either return to the IRRI home page or move on to the TRIOPS Online Catalog to see the books they have to offer.

6. The book(s) you order will normally be shipped on the same day. Although the order will be processed in Germany, all books will still be air mailed directly from IRRI headquarters in the Philippines. Give it a try!

Notes: 

• In cases where it is indicated that another publisher should be contacted, HDC customers cannot order the book through IRRI. Hence, a credit card cannot be used to order this book. 
• To cover additional costs, HDC prices must be paid by LDC credit card customers.
• LDC credit card customers may purchase a copublished book that lists no HDC price if they pay triple the listed LDC price. 
• Because it is unreliable and takes too long, shipping by surface mail is not available. 
• This procedure is not set up to handle Philippine peso (PHIL) orders. However, if enough Philippine customers indicate interest, we may set up an arrangement. Send an email to Marketing and Fulfillment Unit (irripub@cgiar.org) indicating your interest in credit card sales within the Philippines.
