Irrigated Rice Research Consortium

Methodology/Approach

Small annual workshops and exchange visits among scientists are held to

1) identify and prioritize research objectives;

2) agree on collaborative and individual country-specific research activities;

3) develop experimental protocols and conduct experiments; and,

4) report results.

Partners conduct strategic and adaptive research in their country according to agreed protocols and methodologies using their own logistical support and services. IRRI scientists 'backstop' collaboratively as appropriate.

Farmer participatory trials are conducted using established methodologies. This will advance technology transfer at two levels: 1) methodologies for on-farm experimentation by NARES, and 2) the delivery of research findings to extension workers.
