Accomplishments
- Conducted studies of the effect of water management on the ecology and
control of the grass weeds of rice, especially Echinochloa crus-galli
- Continued work on the emerging problem of wild and weedy rice management
and control in China, Malaysia, and Vietnam
- Continued work on weed species shifts in relation to agronomic and weed
management practices, particularly direct seeding of rice
- Continued evaluating weed management in rice-wheat bed planting and
no-till systems in the Indo-Gangetic Plain
- Developed weed management systems for T-Aman and Boro crops in Bangladesh
- Evaluated weed management systems in minimum tillage systems in Vietnam
- Evaluated weed management systems in rice rotation systems in the
Philippines
