Methodology/Approach
The Impact WG identifies and/or develops participatory methods and tools for effective delivery of research outputs to farmers. Here are some examples of the methods and tools that are already developed and /or being developed:
- Participatory Needs and opportunity assessment (NOA) - An improved PRA that goes beyond problem identification into jointly developing and evaluating solutions with farmers through an action plan agreed upon by concerned stakeholders.
- Focused Group discussion (FGD) to understand farmers' knowledge, attitudes/beliefs and practices
(KAPs).
- Survey instruments to develop baseline and post-intervention changes in farmers'
KAPs.
- Participatory technology evaluation and adaptation.
- Strategy for integration of components (e.g. improved crop establishment, nutrient, water, pest management) to develop integrated crop management for reducing cost and/or enhancing profit to farmers.
- Delivery/Communication systems for upscaling (technology packaging and presentation options, delivery partners, mass media communication methods).
