Regional Research-Extension- Farmer Meeting at Tien Giang

In Indonesia, the minister and the secretary of Agriculture and the president have been briefed about the successful findings of the Integrated Crop Management (ICM) pilot study. The Government is planning to expand the ICM to all potential intensive rice cultivation areas in the country. In Vietnam, Bui Ba Bong, vice-minister for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) attended the Regional Research-Extension-Farmer Meeting at Tien Giang on March 1, 2002 at which farmers reported highly positive experiences regarding the on-farm research that provided the basis for the Three Reductions Project. The MARD is convinced about the success of the project and plans to expand it in South Vietnam in the coming years.
